A rescue lamb’s experience of the COVID pandemic.

Meet Rocket Man!

Arriving at Edgar’s Mission farmed animal sanctuary with a nasty gash on his tiny head, the newborn lamb was a victim of a predator attack. Quickly receiving life-saving medical care and nourishment, he has flourished alongside his little rescue buddies.

After his rough start to life, Rocket Man doesn’t know what all this COVID stuff is about. He spends his days leaping for joy, drinking milk like a champion, modelling cute Winter coats, and snoozing in his heated nursery with his favourite teddy.

He has noticed that his carers now wear funny things covering their faces, and they don’t stand very close to each other. He’s been waiting for groups of adoring humans to come and coo over him, but he heard something about tours and new volunteers being cancelled. So he’s settled for showing off his cutest angle for his fans on social media instead.

With over 450 residents, Edgar’s Mission is a not-for-profit animal sanctuary who provide rescued farmed animals with lives truly worth living. While the pandemic has paused visitors to the sanctuary and their usual outreach and advocacy efforts, they still invite people into their world through live videos on social media, which offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse of sheep, goats, pigs, chickens and more, living their best life.

You can help this amazing organisation by making a donation, or buying yourself something awesome on their online shop, or from the Cruelty Free Shop in Fitzroy (Melbourne) or Glebe (Sydney).

Rocket Man and his little friends would like to thank ewe for helping make the world a kinder place!
