Product Description

Rumpole is one of 10 rescued donkeys who live at Brightside Sanctuary in Tasmania. Rumpole's herd of 100 were captured by dealers from the wild in the Northern Territory. The donkeys were trucked for 3 days to Victoria where they were put up for sale, mostly for pet meat.

It was soul destroying at the sale seeing this closely bonded herd split up one by one and put into trailers by themselves, terrified and alone. As they were wild jacks (stallions) and unhandled their chances were not great so Emma from Brightside decided to rescue 10 and keep them together as their own little herd.

The ten wild donkeys they bought to Brightside made a terrifying journey from The Northern Territory to Tasmania but they are happy now. They are learning to trust people and every night they join the rescued camels, cows pigs, sheep and chickens in the barn for dinner. Rumpole is the friendliest, he loves cuddles from people he knows if they approach him quietly.

Brightside Farm Sanctuary offers a permanent home to over 250 rescued animals. They also rescue and re-home 300 to 500 animals each year, placing them in approved loving homes. They are reliant on donations to continue their work for animals so please consider adding a donation for Rumpole and his friends at Brightside Sanctuary to your next Cruelty Free Shop order.

  1. Fijian Dogs and Cats need your help!

Posted by Julie Eden on 26th Mar 2014

How do you rate giving a donation to a good cause - saving animals, which otherwise would not be cared for and left for dead. SPCA in Fiji requires each and everyone of us to give a donation to their cause. Read Samira Orchards account of what happens to these animals if not rescued by their team and all she is asking for is urgent supplies and without public donations they will not be able to care for these animals.

The donation is a mere $10.00 it is not much to ask for these urgent supplies to help these animals.

It's worth every cent to try and help those poor hens

  3. We can't not help

    Posted by J on 30th Jul 2013

Charley deserves as much love and care and consideration as we would want for ourselves.
From a distance we send money, love and energy and just want Charley to have a full and happy life.
We give to us, so we give to Charley.
    Simple as that.

  4. What to do with $10-

Posted by Jenita Maher on 6th May 2013

    Hi Guys,
I was sitting doing my usual morning ethical browsing.Looking for a good cause I could help or a signature for a great cause.I came across Little Joe. After I read his story, I found I still had a lonesome $10 in my account, what better way to multiply the worth of this little lonesome note than to give it to Little Joe.To me it is now worth more than anything money can buy...give it a try the feeling is euphoric. Pass it forward a little when you can. Love Jenita (animal activist)

Woolf's story had me in tears, especially when he recognised his fellows. OMG how can humans be so cruel.

Posted by Jesika R on 22nd Jan 2013

Being from South America, I have seen firsthand the amount of neglected animals there is on the streets- overseas. Many of these animals dont have no one to speak up for them that is why I support this great cause. Thankyou Cristina and all your helpers for your hardwork you are doing for the animals to make their lives much better.
